...today, i had a moment of nostalgia rushing over me. as i was driving in to work, the smell of exhaust and midmorning heat hit me and a flood of memories raced back to me. instantly, i thought of cuba. the smells, the warmth (ok, the heat of the caribbean sun), the humidity, the ocean, the people, the old beat-up cars, the experiences that i have been blessed with. i wanna go back.

it's amazing the friendships that have formed. my good friend and cuban brother is always in the back of my mind. i often wonder how he and his family are doing; knowing that i will, oh yesh, i will see him again.

cuba seems to me like a home away from home now. the first time i went was the first time i was away for rin and b. it was hard to be away. i was wondering to myself:

"what am i doing here? what is the reason for me to be here? why did God call me to this place?" but now i understand the reasoning behind it.

it is always good to go, but there is that time when you just want to get back on the plane and head on home. but once you've been home and recuperated, you think about going back. . .

rin and i are going to be going to oregon with my mom and dad for a little getaway, you might say. well, today has been a fun time of calling vets to find out how much things cost. you know those little things like:

vet checks
vaccines
boarding dues

i called one place and it was $49 for the vet check and vaccines. so i called another place and found out that it was the same price, but in the long run, the checks are cheaper. so i called back a little later to make an appointment and find out that it is going to be $70 total. they forgot to tell me about a vaccine that was needed for boarding.

this is the first time having to board our dog, but hopefully everything will turn out ok...

(on another note: i almost had a disaster with my pudding cup. a whole bunch a cd cases slid off one another and hit the pudding cup which it turn fell off the desk onto my lap and onto my flip flop. thankfully, nothing spilled out.)

i took this image the other day while i was marking a tree well. there were two bumblebees flying around and the wind was blowing, so i couldn't get a great image, but it works.

i don't like the way the sun is reflecting off the white flowers, but eh, oh well. . .

the other day i was out taking pictures and this shot caught my eye. i like the way the sun pokes through the silhouetted trees and gives a nice effect.

ok, batman is my favorite superhero. next is spiderman, but this year's new superman looks pretty dang good.

this last saturday i was in the backyard from about 10:30 am to about 5:00 pm doing yard work and putting in new borders. i transplanted our rose bushes to a new location. the area under my bonsai table was made into another display area for bigger bonsai and trees that are being shaped into bonsai. it makes it look cleaner and nicer (i think).

anyway, my back is completely sunburned. rin said to me later on in the evening, "i told you so" but that's ok. at least it means the sun is out and warm weather is (was) here. i'm still a little sore, but i'm normally in for a sunburn at the beginning of the year and the rest of the season, i'm tan.
