it seems that oakley is using it's advertising from the 8o's to get us to buy their products. is this what we really want to see? how foolish we really looked back then. i remember wanting to get some of these glasses 'cause they were "soooooo cool!" but then i wanted the frogskins, oooohhhhh, those were the coolest. is this what we are going back too? big hair, tube tops (oh wait, those are still around), etc, etc. . .

if you are thinking this is an old ad, it's not. circa oct 2oo5 - surfing magazine. i'm eyeing kelly slater on the cover right now.

maybe it's not a bad thing. bringing back the cool retro, but the 8o's, c'mon. . .what came out of the 8o's that's worth going back there for? jelly braclets (those are already here). besides the great music (INXS, the cure, petshop boys, OMD, depeche mode, newOrder, oingo boingo, midnight oil, modern english, information society and much much more. oh, and of course, the good stuff by U2), what else came out of the 8o's. yeah sure, reagan took office (RIP gipper), but look who took office after that. and what kind of music did we have? angst filled grundge. i don't think i'm pulling parallels out of the sky.

maybe i'm wrong. bring on the neon. . . . !
just got back from erin's pregnancy appointment. doctor said everything is looking good. he wants her to at least hit 37 weeks. that's the sweet spot. 37. i wonder if it is do-able. who knows. the first was 35, 2nd was 36, so adding another week might work. the doctor leaves for hawaii on the 30th of october, but he thinks she'll deliver before then.
last night was the awana start-up fair. awana starts in what, 2 weeks. i can't believe it. already. what's the deal with time going by so fast? and here's the kicker. . .the same day awana starts, so does joyful life. a double doosy on the same day. HAHAH.

last night went well, i guess. i had the 4 firemen/paramedics doing games with the kids and leaders. that was cool. i had to go for an hour with games and i ran out of games, so i had them play fort knox for about 20 minutes. that way, the kids could burn energy and still play without getting in trouble. i think they liked it from last year too. maybe we should have done some crab soccer.

there was a dunk tank. i dunked dane and ryan a few times each. blythe had fun in the jumping house. hayden, well, hayden just walked around looking for things to do. blythe and i did the cake walk a few times, then momma and hayden joined in. i kept asking blake to play some BEP (black eyed peas), but he kept saying "NO", but we compromised and he play some POD for me. thanks blake.

big seth-O and stephanie

just came across these pictures of big seth-O's wedding a few years ago. wow! has it been that long already. the wedding was in portland, oregon. it was nice for erin and i to get away and go to seth's wedding. i sent them over to DFO of huckleberries fame. i think he enjoyed them to, as he posted them on his blog. don't hog 'em dave. . .let brenda in on 'em too. =)

finally figured out how to deploy the leviathan in UT2oo4. . .w00t

nishinomiya japanese garden

we recently went to manito park on saturday. i love that place. it's in spokane on the south hill. it is a huge park with a conservatory, rose garden, duck pond, duncan's garden, and my favorite. . .the nishinomiya japanese garden (NJG). in the NJG, there is a huge koi pond too. i have a few pictures to post.

we try to make it at least once a summer, but last year we weren't able to make it. hopefully in the fall, we will be able to go again, when all the leaves are changing color. i think my wife gets annoyed with me wanting to go so much. i love it there. it is so peaceful and quiet, even when there are others there too.

i'm trying to get ideas for my bonsai from the garden. i told erin that i am done with bonsai for a while (last fall, i had over 60 plants for bonsai. i lost all but 5 of them over the winter). i want to get back into it, so i've decided to only have a few plants right now. that way, i can put my attention to those few. i have some maples that i've started from seed (and i have to get some maple seedlings from my parents yard). erin's grandmother is going to get me some japanese maple seedlings too. i'm also going to get some wisteria next spring and work with those. hopefully, i will get better at it and not lose anymore plants.

well, with that, enjoy the pictures. . .

seedchuck. . .who are you? do i know you?
yesterday we went to the north idaho fair. what a disappointment that was. everything was the same as last year, and the year before, but less this year. nothing good. not even the demolition derby was good. there were only 8 (8? can you believe that?) cars in the derby. . .well, at least my daugther enjoyed it. . .it was her first demo derby. i took pictures too, so i will post them later.

at least i got to have a deep fried twinkie and a huckleberry ice cream waffle cone.

granati imagery

atari anyone?
granati imagery
i was up in sandpoint last sunday. we were coming back from wakeboarding and stopped in at the burger king there. i had to use the bathroom so excusing myself i headed off to take a shot. before i could get there, a man came in with his wife and went towards to the bathroom as well. we got in and he went to go wash his hands (nothing wrong with that). after he washed his hands, he went to the bathroom. weird i thought, but hey, to each his own. now this is where it gets gross. while washing my hands, i watched as he walked out the door WITHOUT washing his hands. he washed before, but not after. does anyone think this is weird, or gross?

well, this is our new addition to our family. we've had a hard time dealing with the humane society in kootenai county (KHS).

we adopted a cat that was 2 years old. she was great while at KHS. we got her home and the first thing she did was hide. well, we had to find her and keep her from hiding so that she could get used to us. well, she hid again, and again, and again. the next morning, we were getting ready for breakfast and she took off into the garage (that's where the litter box is at).

well, to say the least, we couldn't find her. i had to get to work, so i was getting ready to leave. i got in my car and, lo and behold, it wouldn't start. so i had to take the durango, which of course, was in the garage.

well, i got to work and my wife (erin) kept looking in the garage throughout the day. she couldn't find her, so we thought the cat hitched a ride underneath the durango. we figured she was gone, so we started making plans of getting a kitten instead of an adult.

i got home and looked around for the cat, but i couldn't find her either. i had to get cleaned up 'cause we were watching my nephew (my sister's son).

the next day, erin found evidence that the cat was still in the garage, so after i got home that day, we continued to look for her. but we couldn't look long, 'cause we were going to chili's with my parents and grandma. erin went inside to get ready to go and blythe stayed with me. finally i saw movement and the cat was running away from me. i told blythe to go get erin. that's when the "fun" started. that devil cat tried attacking me, erin and blythe. then she ran over hayden trying to get away. she went inside the house and continued trying to attack. i had to get my leather work gloves to catch her. i finally got her and put her in the cat box.

the next day, we took her back to the KHS. they asked if i could work with her and give her time to adjust. i told whoever i was talking with what had happened. it was as though they didn't want to listen to what i was saying. they asked again, "can you give her time to adjust and work with her?"

i said "she was hiding in my garage for the last 36 hours. how do we work with her when she does that. besides, she attacked me and erin and blythe."

"what did she do?" she asked.

"she attacked me and erin and blythe."

"but what did she do?" again she asked.

do i need to describe in great detail the claws coming out, the fangs showing, this hiss and tongue roll, etc. etc. . .i swear she must have asked things 3 times, never listening to me. these people take their job way to seriously. then someone else said that blythe was chasing the cat. was that woman there? i don't think so. how can you say with such authority that something happened when you aren't even there? i finally told them we are returning the cat and we are going to get a kitten later on.

if you can avoid going to KHS to get a pet, do. these people are wacko. maybe it's all the harsh fumes they digest day in and day out. or maybe, just maybe they were animals in a former life.

pondering. . .

go here for more information about this cool new google by dragon optical.

well, august is almost over. only 6 days left, then september will be here. this year is flying by. leaves will be falling shortly, plants will be turning from green to brown. the crunch of fallen leaves underfoot. you know what? i actually like fall. what a great season. there's a slight chill in the air, but it isn't cold. you can see your breath at times, but again, it isn't cold. greenbluff is in full swing. . .

well, the surgery was a success. only one drop of blood. she's sleeping now. . .and hopefully will go to bed and sleep a few hours, when she gets home. the doctor doesn't forsee any problems and thinks that she will be fine. we have to give her tylenol every four to six hours for pain and that's it. wow! i guess all this worrying was for nothing.

today is going to be a hectic day at work now that i'm back. have more programs to make and more intros to record. excuse me while i whip the arby sauce from the corner of my mouth. lunch is on the run too. but hey, how else am i going to have fun. . .hahah

more to come. . . .

    PSALM OF THE DAY

    PSALM 1

Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, and has not stood in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is only in the Law of Jehovah; and in His Law he meditates day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivulets of water that brings forth its fruit in its seasons, and its leaf shall not wither, and all which he does shall be blessed.
The wicked are not so, but are like chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For Jehovah knows the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

i just received our calender of events (for work) updated a few days ago. jeez, where did this year go? looking it over, i just realized that christmas will be here the day after tomorrow.

ah, today, a nicer cooler day than late. but what's to come of this weather? well, by the looks of things to come, we are having a cool down. but not to worry, y'all, it's suppose to warm up again.

i know that this cooler weather is doing my plants some good. my wisteria started sending out new shoots. my third wisteria is finally doing better too. i was hoping that all three would hit the top of our pergola before the end of summer. two of them are, so i'm hoping and waiting to see if the third will do it. there are six new shoots on it, which are half way up, so if the weather continues to be pleasant it should reach the top.

well, over the weekend, we went back up to lake pend o'reille. had my last wakeboarding session. it ended on a note not to savvy though. the boat started having problems, so we had to go back in. i was only able to ride for about 10 minutes. but, these things happen, so i guess i'll have to wait until next year to get back out. i still have my longboard to ride though, and winter is right around the corner. so, maybe we'll have an epic snowfall this year.

    Saturday, August 20, 2005

well, today is going to be a slightly busy day (well, maybe not). not much really going on really. i can't decide if i'm going to mow the lawn today or on monday. i have a lot of yard work to do. fall is right around the corner (jeez, that is close. i mean, it is still only august) and the county fair starts next wednesday. some people mark the end of summer with the fair. i guess that's a legit claim, seeing as how school starts a week or two after the fair. school starts the 6th this year.

getting back to yard work: i've got pruning to do, dead head roses to clip, wisteria to tie, a garden to tend to, dahlias to cut back, and so on and so forth. do i do that today or let it go for a couple days. i still have to go get tree ties too. and of course, mowing.

    maybe i'll just go take a nap. . .

    BEEN ADDING NEW STUFF

i've been busy adding some new stuff. i've added a guestbook and polling. i'll try and have new polls every few days (or at least once a week). don't be shy, it's fun for all.
i feel like i'm running around with my head cut off today. we had to take our youngest daughter to an ENT specialist today. she's tongue tied, so he was gonna clip it. turns out we have to go the the operating room at the hospital next thursday now. so, she now has another week for her tongue to break on it's own. i doubt that will happen, but you never know.

just got done recording intros and a new outro. the CD is finalizing right now. took longer than expect, and these things can do sometimes. after we finished, eric made me a mocha vanilla float. it is good.

well, i'm off to go finish programs and print up CD orders. i'll post soon (after i get things done, or while printing).

i think it's time we get a little patriotic. i think it's time we get behind OUR president. even if you didn't vote for him, he is still OUR president. i get tired of all the bickering, the complaining, the backbiting, the blah blah blah. we are at war people. even if you don't like it, it still doesn't change reality. and reality is the same for everyone.

just wanted to say hi to those that have visited my site. i've had hits from japan, norway, australia, portugal, malaysia, greece, spain, france, england, canada and all over the u.s.
is summer over? well, let's see. . .the fall smells are in the air. the nights are getting cooler and today's high temp is a whooping 73°F with thundershowers. now, don't get me wrong. i'm not complaining about the cooler day today through friday and the rain. it's a nice break from the constant heat we've been enduring (not to mention my yard will look 10X better after the break too). BUT!!!, summer can't be over, i mean, it just started. from the (very) wet spring (april - june) and the temp slowly rising, summer just really got started. what's the deal? i don't know, maybe it's for the best. wait a sec, what am i saying? bring back some warmer weather. not the high heat but the comfortable weather.

    CHE GUEVARA

ah che, che, che. . .
for those of you that know of this fellow, you know he isn't a good guy. but thanks to good 'ole fashioned american ingeniuty, the american public loves to be associated with him and put his face on articles of clothing and show support of him. looks like i stepped on the plane in CUBA and stepped off the plane in (shall we say) CUBA. let's go one step further, shall we. why not put the faces of hitler, stalin, and castro (just to name a few) on too?
you probably think i don't know what i'm talking about, but in fact i do. you see, i have talked with my friends in CUBA (yes, i've been to CUBA) and i have learned many things about the cuban government and such.
    cap·i·tal·ism

    com·mu·nism
